TUPPER LAKE - The Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished a structure fire Friday night.

At about 8 p.m. Friday, two trucks and 15 members responded to the fire at 227 Park St., where they found all the occupants of the home outside and heavy smoke coming from the basement.

Firefighters entered the building to find that electrical wires set some tires on fire, and the stack of tires extended to a door leading into the backyard. Volunteers used about 500 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.

Fire Chief Mark Picerno said an investigation found that it was an electrical fire.

There were no reported injuries, and volunteers were back in service by 9:30 p.m.
