SARANAC LAKE - Dora Bova, 77, of 77 Catherine St., Malone, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at her home.

Born in Saranac Lake on Sept. 9, 1935, she was the daughter of Felix and Doris (Barnaby) Gates. She married Joseph Bova Sr. on Dec. 24, 1954, at the Nazarene Church in Vermontville.

Dora had worked at the Glove and Shoe Factory in Saranac Lake. She loved going for rides with her husband Joseph and going to yard sales.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Bova Sr. of Lake Placid; four sons: Bradley Bova of Orlando, Fla., Timothy Bova and his wife Susan of Malone, Joseph Bova Jr. and his wife Tammy of Saranac Lake and Wayne Bova and his wife Kelly of Malone; one daughter Christine Swinyer and her husband Gerald of Vermontville; one brother Philip Gates of Lake Clear; one sister Gola Hearn of Vienna, Ohio; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; four sisters: Marguerite Gates, Dorothy Gillette, Louisa Martin and Vina Leach; and one brother, Arthur Gates.

Calling hours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Mihill officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
