SARANAC LAKE?- Adirondack Health's Wound & Hyperbaric Treatment Center in Saranac Lake is offering a free foot and wound screening clinic on Friday, Nov. 2.
The event is open to the public, designed specifically for people who have non-healing wounds. A non-healing or chronic wound is a wound that shows little or no improvement after four weeks or does not heal in eight weeks.
The specially trained medical team at the Wound Treatment Center will be on hand to perform evaluations and screenings from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, Adirondack Health's certified dietitian will offer supplemental information regarding the role of proper nutrition in healing and successful wound care.
Opened in March of this year, the Adirondack Health Wound & Hyperbaric Treatment Center is located at 285 Old Lake Colby Road behind Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. This state-of-the-art facility is staffed by caring professionals who specialize in chronic wound care, from the physicians and podiatrists to the nurses who hold certified wound care credentials. The facility also provides wound treatment through the use of two hyperbaric oxygen chambers.
