Good news for Lake Placid Vol. Ambulance Service

October 15, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service has been voted the EMS Agency of the Year 2011 in the Mountain Lakes District.

The next step for the LPVAS?is buttoning up a new addition to the squad's station with exterior walls before winter.

Recent financial gifts from the Uihlein Foundation, Kingsley Foundation and NBT Bank are gratefully acknowledged and have helped the Building Fund to reach more than $220,000 toward the goal now at $300,000.

All the vehicles are now together inside a warm building and still at the convenient location inside the village.

Community members are invited to stop by the station to view the facility.

The rescue squad has responded to more than 1,100 calls so far this year.

Summer stand-bys were made at the Lake Placid Fire Department's track races, for the two week duration of the Lake Placid Horse Show, for 23 hours during Ironman, the Touch A Truck event, Take a Plunge for a Cause and the Lake Placid Regatta.

Carol Kolar continues to give CPR courses, several members have attended EMS seminars and three members are taking EMT courses this fall.
