SARANAC LAKE - Hilda B. McKenna, 89, of 52 Beechwood Drive, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at home following a short illness.

Born in Rochester on Oct. 23, 1922, she was the daughter of Clarence and Helen (Richmond) Bastian. Hilda married John McKenna on June 5, 1948, in Rochester. He predeceased her in 1987.

Hilda loved playing cards, doing her word search puzzles and scratching off her lottery tickets. Her greatest joy was having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her.

She is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Edward Goetz of Saranac Lake; two grandsons: Brian Goetz and his wife Tracy of Bloomingdale and Steven Goetz and his wife Melissa of Latham; three great-grandchildren: Karlie, Zackary and Christopher Goetz; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; one brother, William Bastian; and two sisters: Dorothea Flannery and Leona Rattigan.

Calling hours will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home with Deacon Fred Oberst officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
