LAKE PLACID - Haile Thompson had two goals and an assist to lead the Lake Placid boys soccer team to a 4-0 Northern Soccer League victory over Westport on Thursday.
Thompson, a senior, connected for an unassisted goal in the 35th minute then scored again a minute later on a pass from Eddie Kane. Thompson assisted on Shane McNierney's second half goal.
"Westport defended very well, withstanding a great deal of pressure from Lake Placid's offense," said Lake Placid coach Stuart Hemsley.
The Blue Bombers outshot Westport 25-10. Lake Placid goalkeeper Chris Kordziel made seven saves.
"Goalmouth scrambles and fine goalkeeping kept the Bombers scoreless until five minutes before halftime," Hemsley said. "The second half also resulted in a number of chances before two more late goals put Westport's efforts to equalize beyond reach."
Lake Placid improved to 9-4 with the victory.
