To the editor:
Though small in number, the word rang true. DEC (state Department of Environmental Conservation), be fair and just in your treatment of our wildlife that share our habitat and which you are paid to protect and support. Would it not have been more prudent to seek the advice of more experienced wildlife caregivers before assuming the moose could not be helped? Cost-effective, convenient and assumption should not be the rule. If all you are doing now is what you will ever be, our wildlife is in peril. This is not the first incident in which the DEC has shown poor judgment regarding our precious wildlife. I hope it is their last.
