A 2-year-old boy who was reported missing Tuesday afternoon was found after a brief search.
After Matthew Terry wandered off from his home on Elm Street in the AuSable Acres subdivision, the state Department of Environmental Conservation received a call about him being missing around 2:20 p.m., according to DEC Region 5 spokesman David Winchell. Three DEC forest rangers in the area immediately responded and began searching the nearby woods.
Winchell said the boy was located less than two hours later near Cross and Elm streets in AuSable Acres.

"(The) child was located by a couple with a seasonal home in AuSable Acres," Winchell said. "Upon learning about the missing child they began searching an area around their home."
Winchell said the child was located less than a mile away from his last known location. He was wearing long pants, a long sleeve shirt and socks but no shoes, Winchell said.
"He appears to be healthy," he said.

Forest rangers and state police were assisted in their search by the Essex County Sheriff's Department as well as members of the AuSable Forks, Upper Jay, Jay and Wilmington volunteer fire departments.
