To the editor:
So, let me get this straight: The government has been on a spending binge for the last several years, but the only way they could pay for the Affordable Care Act was by taking money from Medicare?
According to research from the American Action Network, Congressman Bill Owens cut $1.24 billion from Medicare when he supported the Affordable Care Act. If the health care law was so expensive that it required the government to take a hacksaw to Medicare, Mr. Owens never should have voted for it in the first place.
We simply need relief now. The higher taxes and health care costs from this law will add unnecessary burdens to an already crippled middle class.
Politicians, of all stripes, tend to over-promise and under-deliver. The American Medicare system is a promise to our seniors. It is past time to stand up for what is right instead of what is politically convenient. This country is in dire need of leadership, and politicians can start by repealing this law and the damage it is doing to this country.
