To the editor:
We live in the Pine Hill townhouse development on Station Street in Lake Placid, and I have great misgivings about the removal of the rails and use for snowmobiles in the winter. Snowmobiles are noisy, and their two-cylinder engines pump out hydrocarbon pollutants at an alarming rate. Those of us who live near the tracks, and especially the station, will be subjected to noise and increased local traffic if the Lake Placid train station is used as a getting-off point. I personally don't want to be subjected to all that noise and inconvenience. Those who are not directly affected probably don't care.
