SARANAC LAKE - Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora issued an update Tuesday on a series of ongoing construction projects throughout the village.

He said crews will be working through Friday to remove sidewalk and curb on Academy Street, and to install a new curb and sidewalk on Shepard Avenue.

Water line work will be taking place today on Sheppard and Front Street, and Dora said customers should expect their water service to be disrupted for much of the day.

On Thursday, crews will be milling the pavement on Canaras Avenue and Park Avenue, from Circle Street to Old Military Road. Milling on Helen and Pine streets is set to take place on Friday. During that work, Dora said these streets will be closed to traffic, with the exception of bus traffic, and parking on the streets will be prohibited from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Next week, milling of Sheppard Avenue and Clinton Avenue is set to begin Monday. While that work is going on, the two streets will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of bus traffic, and on-street parking will be prohibited from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Village crews will also be performing all cleanup and paving preparation on the milled streets.

Sidewalk and curb installation will also be done on Academy Street next week.

From Oct. 9 through Oct. 16, Dora said paving will be performed on Canaras Street, Park Avenue, Sheppard Avenue, State Street, Helen Street, Pine Street and Clinton Street. Those streets will be closed to all traffic on the day of paving.
