Landmark elm laid to rest

A huge, old elm tree at the corner of Park Avenue and Circle Street, Saranac Lake, is cut down Monday. One of the village’s last great elms, the umbrella-shaped tree started dying in 2010 and was dead last year. If the culprit was Dutch elm disease, cutting the tree down will prevent further spread to other elms.
