TUPPER LAKE - An area man was sentenced to prison time for violating probation he was given after pleading guilty to a string of June 2010 burglaries.
Justin Woods, 22, of Tupper Lake, was charged with felony violation of probation. He admitted in Franklin County Court Monday to violating his probation on Aug. 20 and was sentenced to one to three years in state prison.
He was convicted of burglary in the third degree in August 2011 and was sentenced on that charge to five years of probation and paying restitution.
Woods broke into the China Wok restaurant on Park Street and a private residence in the village. The owner of the China Wok saw one of the burglaries and called 911 to report it, and police were able to apprehend Woods, who had fled on foot.
He stole an unspecified amount of cash and other items during the burglaries. Some of the items were recovered when they were found by youths in the woods a few hundred yards away from one of the burglary sites.
He was originally charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of possession of burglary tools and three counts of petit larceny.
