LAKE PLACID - A new event, the inaugural Lake Placid Brew Fest, will be held in the Olympic Center's 1932 Rink from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.
The Brew Fest will feature 20 microbrew companies from around the country, including Crossroads Brewing Company, Davidson Brothers, Kona Brewing Company, Magic Hat, Shock Top and Switchback Brewing Company. It is open to adults 21 years and older, and is sponsored by Centerplate and Saratoga Eagle, and co-hosted by the Great Adirondack Brewing Company and Lake Placid Pub & Brewery.
Each of the breweries will offer samples and talk about brewing. There will also be live music and food provided by Centerplate.
Craft brewing is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. In 2011, craft brewers sold an estimated 11,468,152 barrels of beer.
