September 20, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - The Will Rogers Senior Outing Club's October event will be a visit to Intervale Lowlands on Tuesday, Sept. 25, leaving Will Rogers at 10 a.m.

This property, whose forested areas, grasslands and wetlands support more than 200 species of birds, is a private 133-acre nature refuge along a mile of the West Branch of the AuSable River, with a recently built net-zero, LEED Platinum-certified home that uses geothermal heating and cooling. The group will tour the home and the grounds, and have a picnic on site. A picnic lunch will be provided.

Participants should wear outdoor appropriate gear, including sturdy shoes and rain gear, in case of inclement weather. Binoculars, a hat, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended.

There is a limit to the number of participants, so call Debbie Kanze at 518-891-7117 to make a reservation.

The Saranac Village at Will Rogers Senior Outing Club is open to all seniors (55+) interested in venturing out for moderate activity at various locations around the area.

Activities are held on the last Tuesday of every month. The club's mission is to "offer seniors the chance to enjoy outdoor adventures with companionship, safety and fun."
