TUPPER LAKE - After one two-year term on the village board, Trustee Chip Perham won't run for re-election.

Trustee Tom Snyder, whose seat is the other one up for re-election, said he will run.

Perham told the Enterprise at a Monday night village board meeting that he recently retired and his wife is about to retire, and when she does, they plan to travel.

"I don't feel it's fair to the village's people to keep my position and be gone for two or three months," Perham said.

He said he wishes he could do both, and he thanked village residents and the village Republican party for supporting him.

"I have enjoyed my time as a trustee," Perham said. "It was an educational experience."

At their caucus last week, Democrats chose political newcomer Ron LaScala to run on their line in the Nov. 6 election.

The Republican caucus is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Goff-Nelson Memorial Library at 41 Lake St. Only village residents who are members of the Republican party will be able to vote, though the caucus is open to the public.
