To the editor:
On Aug. 18, the Kate Mountain Community Recreation Association held a music festival in Kate Mountain Park in Vermontville. The Town of Franklin Scholarship Committee took the opportunity to raise scholarship money by selling ice cream during the event. Though the weather was not overly warm, the ice cream was, luckily, still popular. The committee would like to thank Price Chopper and Hannaford supermarkets for donating food and supplies for the event. These businesses have been wonderful to us, and we greatly appreciate their support.
The Town of Franklin Scholarship Committee is a community organization which annually awards scholarships to college students of any age who live within the town of Franklin, achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for at least one college semester prior to application, and apply for the scholarship by the deadline each spring. The fund receives no money from the town or other government agencies, and is entirely dependent on donations.
Sincerely,
Shir Filler
