To the editor:
I would like to comment on two issues that appeared in today's Enterprise (Sept. 13). The first is the rails to trails debate. I am an avid snowmobiler and not much of a train enthusiast, but I do not want to see the rails removed until we have a 100 percent, ironclad guarantee from someone who has the authority to do it that snowmobiles would be allowed on the trail forever. I don't know Jim McCulley or Dick Beamish, but I don't think either of them has that authority.
The second issue is paving the parking lot at the Adirondack Adult Center in Tupper Lake. I think Franklin County should pave the lot. Tupper Lake, along with all our highly assessed waterfront, pays plenty into the county treasury. With only about 2 miles of county highway, I don't think we get very much back from the county highway department.
Yours truly,
Stuart Nichols
