To the editor:
Once again we had an event-filled weekend in the Tri-Lakes. On Saturday I chose to attend the Adirondack Art Festival at the High Peaks Resort. It was a wealth of cultural food for the soul. It was a three-day event, but I could only attend two of the presentations at the High Peaks Resort. The theme was "Adirondacks: A Place to Dream." The photography, from the past to the present, was a joy to the visual senses. In the afternoon we were treated to excerpts from Adirondack authors and the oral tradition of storytelling. I wish I could have attended the entire weekend of the festival, but even this small glimpse of our cultural heritage uplifted my day.
The numerous organizations that made this event possible are listed in the Sept. 7 issue of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. At the conclusion, those organizations were mentioned, but to my pleasant surprise it was noted that the High Peaks Resort "donated" the space for the day's events. I am a member of NYS Women Inc., we have had two statewide weekend events at the High Peaks Resort, and the service and care have been superb. To think that the High Peaks Resort donated their beautiful meeting space to this arts festival truly shows us the High Peaks Resort is "A Place to Dream."
