Richard A. Finlayson

SARANAC LAKE - Richard A. Finlayson, 74, of 51 Willow Way, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at his home.

Born in Saranac Lake on June 23, 1938, he was the son of Arnold and Jean (Betters) Finlayson.

He graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1956. He retired from the United States Navy in 1984 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and enjoyed baseball, bowling, fishing and reading.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene (Tebo) Finlayson of Saranac Lake; three children: Beverly Finlayson of Saranac Lake, Grant Finlayson and his wife Alden of Charleston, S.C., and Christine Ponce of Malone; four grandchildren: Victoria Ponce, DPT, Benjamin Ponce Jr., Andrew Finlayson and Amanda Finlayson; two brothers: Gary Finlayson and his wife Linda of Saranac Lake, and Daniel Finlayson and his wife Janet of Saranac Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother, Stephen Finlayson.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Friends wishing to remember Richard A. Finlayson may make memorial contributions to High Peaks Hospice in care of the funeral home.
