TUPPER LAKE - The village has scheduled a power outage as part of a series of substation upgrades the Municipal Electric crew has been working on in recent weeks.

This outage is scheduled for 6 to 9 a.m. Sunday.

Areas of Tupper Lake that will be affected by the outage are as follows:

-all of Rock Ridge

-Amell Lane

-Arden Street

-the Bradley Street area

-Chemical Street

-Demars Boulevard from Santa Clara Avenue to Lake Street, including the Aubuchon Hardware Plaza

-the Don Smith apartment complex on Wawbeek Avenue

-Forest Avenue

-Hebert Lane

-High Street

-Ivy Terrace

-Lake Street

-LeBeouf Street

-McCarthy Street

-Park Street from Rock Ridge to Hill Street

-Pleasant Avenue

-Save-a-Lot Plaza on Demars Boulevard

-Woodland Drive

-Vachereau Street.

The last time the village scheduled a power outage, it was in the early morning hours of a weekday. At a village board meeting, Trustee Rick Donah asked why that time was chosen, since it was in the middle of business hours for some local businesses, especially restaurants that rely on breakfast sales.

Municipal Electric Superintendent John Bouck said he tried to schedule the outage for a time when it would have an impact on the least amount of people, but he said there's no time that would work well for everyone in Tupper Lake.

For Sunday's power outage, a rain date has not been scheduled.
