People walk around the Olympic Speedskating Oval in Lake Placid to raise money for the American Cancer Society, in hopes of a cure for the disease being found, at the Tri-Lakes Relay for Life.
This year’s ninth annual Relay for Life will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the oval. The event gives people an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives to cancer and honor those who won the battle. It includes speakers at 9 a.m., walking at 10 a.m., a DJ from noon to 4 p.m., games from noon to 7 p.m., a raffle at 4 p.m. and a luminary ceremony at 7 p.m.
