SARANAC LAKE - The village Board of Trustees has approved a small land swap involving property owned by the village and a downtown businessman.
Trustees voted unanimously Monday to declare a 156-square-foot parcel of village property near Berkeley Green as surplus, then unanimously approved a separate resolution endorsing the land swap.
The village is swapping its land for a 202-square-foot parcel that runs between Berkeley Green and its adjacent parking lot. That parcel belongs to Monarque Holdings, a company owned by Greg Moore, who owns the building on Main Street where his business, Bear Essentials, and the Community Store are located.
The village is giving Moore a parcel of land behind his building that he can use, while the village gets the property between the park and the parking lot, which includes a sidewalk that the village is already maintaining.
No money is changing hands as part of the deal.
A public hearing was held on the proposal at the start of Monday's meeting but there were no comments from the audience.
