State police have made an arrest in connection with a burglary at a pharmacy in AuSable Forks.

Ray Brook-based state police charged Justin H. Hicks, 25, of Keeseville, with one count of each of the following: second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony; third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony; third-degree burglary, a class D felony; unlawful growing of cannabis, a class A misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. The arrest was made at 6 a.m. Wednesday at a residence on Scott Lane in the village of Keeseville.

Hicks was charged in connection with an Aug. 17 burglary at Feek Pharmacy, 14223 state Route 9N in downtown AuSable Forks, in the town of Jay. The investigation is ongoing, but police believe Hicks entered the pharmacy through a second-story storage room and then stole several bottles of the prescription pain medication oxycodone.

When police took Hicks into custody, they found 20 marijuana plants inside his residence, they said.

Hicks was arraigned in Chesterfield town court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of bail. No information about future court appearances was available Thursday evening.
