Duprey helped veteran get his job back

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to voice my support for Assemblywoman Janet Duprey.

I retired from the New York State Department of Correctional Services in March 2011 after nearly 30 years of service. A few weeks before I retired, a corrections officer, who was called to serve his country in Iraq and Afghanistan, returned to Upstate Correctional Facility after being severely wounded in action. He was extremely distraught. New York state had sent him a termination letter that would have stripped him of the benefits he deserved. I called Janet Duprey and explained the situation. She gave me her cell number, which was passed on to the wounded officer. He called her late that night, and they spoke for three hours. Janet assured him she would do everything she could to help!

The next business day, the termination letter was rescinded, and with the help of Janet, the facility superintendent and the union (NYSCOBPA), the officer and wounded veteran received his retirement and benefits he earned and deserved. This is just one example of the real-life issues she has resolved quickly and efficiently.

Although Janet is known as a tough competitor who is firm in her commitments, not everyone sees the size of her heart, her compassion and desire to help whenever they need her assistance. Janet works very hard and will continue to work hard to represent her Assembly district with leadership, her knowledge, experience, caring and class.

So I urge you to vote on Primary Day for Janet Duprey. She clearly is the only experienced and qualified candidate.
