LAKE?PLACID?- The haunting strains of the Lakme duet, the thrill of the Toreador Song from Carmen, the high drama of the Rigoletto quartet and the Faust prison trio, and funny moments from "The Pirates of Penzance" will be only part of the show as High Peaks Opera, in association with the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, presents "Opera Gala 2012: Passion in the Pines" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at the LPCA theater.
This end-of-summer musical celebration will feature Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone George Cordes and his wife, pianist Elizabeth Cordes, co-founders and directors of High Peaks Opera, based in Tupper Lake.
They will be joined by international opera singers Neal Harrelson, tenor, and Beth MacLeod, mezzo-soprano, along with rising star Natalie Polito, soprano. A wine and cheese reception will accompany the performance.
