LAKE PLACID - Ruth Walton, 82, of Station Street, Lake Placid, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at her home in Lake Placid.
Mrs. Walton was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Lake Placid. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Lee Whittemore and the late Fannie (Southmayd) Whittemore. She had worked in Lake Placid at the Placid Memorial Hospital and for Dr. Bergamini as a medical secretary.
She married Forrest Walton Jan. 10, 1948, at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Walton of Lake Placid; three sons: David Walton and his wife Annette of Lake Placid, Donald Walton and his wife Dea of Keeseville, and Scott Walton and his wife Ellen of Lake Placid; three daughters: Wendy Williams and her husband Burt of North Carolina, Michele Lacey and her husband Kent of Lake Placid, and Cindy Rock of North Carolina; two brothers: Donald Whittemore of Lake Placid and Gary Whittemore of Lake Placid; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Jean Gray, and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the M. B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave, Lake Placid, NY 12946. The Rev. John Martin, pastor of Adirondack Community Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. A reception will be held following the burial at the American Legion, Post 326, Lake Placid.
