To the editor:
An opportunity missed is an opportunity lost!
We are a two-time Olympic village. There's an Olympics going on right now. It's all over the media. What are we doing as a community to capture some of that Olympic interest or spirit? Maybe I missed something, but it doesn't seem like we're doing very much.
Recently there was an article about how strong business appears to be. I think we're telling the naked emperor that his clothes look beautiful. We have become event driven - i.e., people come here because they have to to participate in their event - as opposed to an important destination that people just want to come to. Here's a thought to ponder: What would happen if Ironman or rugby or lacrosse or the horse shows or Can-Am Hockey (or if all of them) found a more attractive or convenient place to go, as ECAC hockey did not too many years ago? Where would that leave this community going forward?
