Murder wasn’t the NRA’s fault

July 28, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Re: Mike Luckovich's cartoon of July 26:

Mr. Luckovich seems to want to blame Congress and the National Rifle Association for the immoral acts of an individual in Aurora, Colo. Only that individual is responsible. It may be more comfortable to blame our Congress or a large organization, since they are easier to attack than the man who will go through a lengthy court process.

My family and I are members of the NRA, are hunters and target shooters, but have never shot anyone, nor are we ever going to. We, like other NRA members, are law-abiding people, not villains. I would suggest that Mr. Luckovich watch the trial and learn a valuable lesson on how to live as an American, something that the shooter obviously does not know.
