To the editor:
The recent letter to the editor that stated, "The train started the fire in the first place," needs to be addressed. The area burned is not wilderness! I have worked that area the past two years, April to July, for black fly larva control. This is part of the North Elba black fly program. I have seen numerous wildlife cross the tracks and also evidence of human travel. This has included beer cans, granola bar wrappers, Gatorade bottles, cigarette packs, worm containers and even a GPS. I share that area with the train once it begins operation later in June. I see the smiling children waving at me; I smile and wave back. This is not a "ghost train," nor "comical" in my mind.
Thanks,
