Brewers shine on water for St. Lawrence

St. Lawrence University rower Michael Brewer, a 2010 Saranac Lake High School graduate, was named to the Liberty League All-Academic team.

Brewer was a member of the Saints' varsity four boat that won a gold medal and the conference title at the Liberty League Rowing Championships held in Saratoga Springs in the spring. He also competed in the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships in Worcester, Mass.

Brewer is majoring in biology.

His sister Amanda Brewer was also a member of the St. Lawrence rowing program. A 2008 Saranac Lake High School graduate, she recently completed her collegiate rowing career after racing in the ECAC National Invitational in Worcester, Mass.

During Amanda Brewer's four-year career, she rowed in varsity eight boats that won gold medals and conference titles at the Liberty League Conference Championships in April 2010 and April 2011. She captured a bronze medal at the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships in May 2010 and competed in the ECAC Nationals four years in a row. She was a biology and English major at St. Lawrence.
