Tupper Relay for Life raised $61,665

TUPPER LAKE - This year's Relay for Life in Tupper Lake is wrapping up, and changes for next year's event are in the works.

Organizers announced this week that the total amount raised to fight cancer in this year's relay was $61,665.

The event may look a little different in 2013. Organizers also announced they have tentatively set the event for 2 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday, June 15. That moves it four hours earlier and makes more of it during the day, rather than at night.

"We decided to change the time to be more accommodating to the public to allow more participation while still maintaining an overnight event," head organizer Sabrina Shipman said in an email.

The group that stages Tupper Lake's Relay for Life will also have a booth at Tupperpalooza, scheduled for Aug. 4, with a balloon game and a fundraiser for local man James Person to get cancer treatment in Maryland.
