LONG LAKE - The Cabaret Strings, an eight-piece string band, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at the United Methodist Church in Long Lake.
The concert is free, but donations will be accepted at the door.
The band began about 25 years ago in Ulster County and is under the direction of Roger Smith, founder.
The group consists of: Beverly Ireland, five-string banjo; Joan Smith, spoons; Roger Smith, plectrum banjo; Stu Mount, mandolin; Victoria Mount, vocals and guitar; Cheryl Wheeler, piano and vocals; Dan Wheeler, bass and John Vacca, washboard, vocals and MC. While all of the group are frequent visitors to the Adirondacks, one of its members is a full time resident, and two others are seasonal resident of this village.
The Cabaret Strings have played extensively in the Hudson Valley and have appeared in the Adirondacks several times for clubs, parties, riverboat tours and numerous organizations.
A reception to meet the artists will follow the concert.
