July 19, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Center for the Arts presents two encore HD screenings of London's National Theatre Live performances of "Frankenstein."

The reversed cast, featuring Jonny Lee Miller as The Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein, will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for LPCA members and $12 for students 18 and under. For reservations or more information contact the LPCA Box Office at 523-2512 or visit online at LakePlacidArts.org.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.

"Frankenstein," a new play by Nick Dear based on Mary Shelley's novel, directed by Danny Boyle, starring 2012 "Best Actor" Olivier Award joint winners Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, alternates the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature.
