To the editor:
Although I totally agree with most of the ideas and commentary in the article, "Bullying the Nuns" (referenced in George J. Bryjak's Guest Commentary, "Sister power, Mad Hatter Mitt and uncritical thinking," published Friday), there is one small piece I cannot agree with. Why would a mass exodus of practicing Catholics solve anything? I firmly believe we need to stand firmly with the sisters and the other marginalized members of our society, including women. If we depart, the high-faluting hierarchy wins the war and the battle. If we stay and stand up for our rights, we have a chance of convincing some of them of the validity of our claims.
