LAKE PLACID - The Pines Inn Songs at Mirror Lake Music Series, presented by Adirondack "By Owner" has announced the third performance in the seven-week series, will be held Tuesday, July 17, as Bluegrass Jam Night with Greensky Bluegrass.
The music series is held at 7 p.m. on seven Tuesdays throughout the summer at Mid's Park on Main Street.
Michigan's own Greensky Bluegrass is earning recognition nationwide as a growing force in acoustic roots music. It is their unique fusion of tradition and enthusiasm for improvisation that has come to define the band's creative and tangible compositional style.
Rolling Stone recently wrote, "Greensky are hardly strictly bluegrass and, yet, they're representing the genre for a whole new generation."
Greensky released the CD "Handguns" in October 2011 and it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart. Planet Bluegrass (producers of Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Rockygrass and Folks Festival) recently said, "Greensky Bluegrass was anointed one of the next jamgrass superstars. Greensky proved that they are more than ready to hold the jamgrass torch."
Touring extensively since 2005, Greensky has developed great versatility in the performance arena, earning audiences nationwide, from all walks of life. The mixing of original compositions with traditional bluegrass numbers and genre bending cover songs gives the band a broad spectrum in which to display their driving technical chops, vocal abilities and lyrical insight.
Admission to the music series is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring a blanket.
Should there be inclement weather for the performances the rain site is across the street at the St. Eustace Episcopal Church.
