To the editor:
I hope that Homeward Bound can find a permanent home in Saranac Lake. I am disappointed that a suitable location has not been found for this important service to veterans.
As a veteran of World War II, I returned home to discover a warm, hopeful and caring community, one that provided the assistance I needed to attend college and graduate school (the GI Bill). Where has this compassion gone?
Why are we unwilling to welcome young men and women home from the wars?
