LAKE PLACID - Henry J. Kress, 83, of Lake Placid, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1928 in Schenectady, where he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late Henry O. Kress, Sr. and Margaret (nee: Greeley) Kress.
Henry was a machine operator for General Electric Co. in Schenectady for more than 25 years until is retirement. After his retirement he moved year round in his home on Stoner Lake in the Adirondacks. Most recently, Henry has lived in Lake Placid.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his 2 brothers, Paul and David Kress and a sister, Theresa Jaeger.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Alice J. (nee: Dupont) Kress; his two children: Gregory (Bethany) Kress of Wilmington and Monica (Robert) Borden of Glenville; his sister, Ann Duchowny of Schenectady; his grandchildren: Christopher Borden and Kathryn and Kaitlyn Kress; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 25 at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. to be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
