Local boys top chess tournament

Peter Craig of Keene won first place in the 12-16 age division and Bruno Freeman of Bloomingdale, placed second in the 8-11 age division at the Upstate New York Chess Open Tournament, held June 2 at the Franklin Academy in Malone. The tournament was held by the Upstate New York Chess Club. A local Chess Club for all ages meets at Will Rogers, Saranac Lake every Wednesday evening. The club is free and open to all ages. Lessons and skill improvement at 6 p.m., games start at 7 p.m. Children should be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Debbie Kanze at 518-891-7117.
