SARANAC LAKE - Village officials announced Friday that the sidewalk replacement project on Main Street and Broadway is on schedule.
Meanwhile, the village also gave an update on the progress of its ongoing drinking water project.
As of Friday, the sidewalks on Broadway are complete and open to pedestrian traffic, the village said in a press release. Demolition work is complete on the Main Street sidewalk, and crews have been installing stormwater and electric infrastructure. A new curb was also installed on Wednesday.
In preparation for Memorial Day weekend, on-street parking along Main Street will be open along with the sidewalk area. Pedestrians are encouraged to use caution on the rough surface.
Installation of the Main Street sidewalk will begin next week. An updated schedule will be made available Tuesday, however, the entire project is still on schedule to be completed by June 15, village officials said.
"The village appreciates the patience that businesses and residents have shown so far and encourages residents to support downtown businesses as much as possible during construction," the release states.
In other news, contractors have resumed work on various parts of the village's $12 million drinking water project. Work is continuing on the installation of the water main transmission line on Bloomingdale Avenue and Grove Street. Motorists should expect delays. Installation of lateral water lines continues on Old Military Road, Grove Street and Park Avenue.
