LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid boys tennis team notched its second win of the week on Wednesday, topping visiting Seton Catholic 4-1 in the Blue Bombers' final team match of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season.
With the regular season completed, the Blue Bombers boys and girls will now focus on the Section VII state qualifying tournament, which begins today with singles matches at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Against the Knights, the Blue Bombers swept all three singles matches and claimed a victory at second doubles to finish with a 2-5 record.

Lake Placid won every set in the three singles matches. The closest battle was between each team's top player, with Nick Stosiek prevailing 6-3, 7-5 over Seton Catholic's Mike Richter. Alex Jelinek triumphed at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Vinny Bui. The match marked the final regular season outing for Stosiek and Jelinek, who are seniors.
Will Coffrin completed Lake Placid's singles sweep by defeating Ling Long Yan 6-1, 6-1 in the third pairing.
David Knapic and Steven Jelinek teammed up to claim Lake Placid's doubles victory in a three-set match with Ron Wakatsuki and Eli Beaudin. The Blue Bombers pair won 6-3, 4-6 and 7-5.
Joey Bridgeman and Carson Hynes earned the Knights lone point, defeating Joel Silver and Keegan Barney 6-2, 6-1 in first doubles.
Lake Placid's boys and girls are doing some lineup shifting for the state qualifiers by combining their top singles players into doubles teams. The qualifying tournament runs through Saturday.
On the boys side, Nick Stosiek and Alex Jelinek are seeded fifth in doubles. Also competing in boys doubles for the Blue Bombers are Silver and Barney, who will face Matthew Rine and Camden Brockbank of Peru in the first round. Steven Jelinek, an eighth-grader, will be the lone Blue Bombers boys player in action today, taking on Kevin Ko of Beekmantown in singles.
On the girls side, top singles players Natalia Smith and Serena Hallowell will represent Lake Placid in doubles and are seeded fourth. The Blue Bombers will have three girls competing in the first round of singles today with Victoria O'Leary facing Peru's Karley Goddeau-Stefaniak, Brenna Garrett taking on AuSable Valley's Michaelea Courson and Liza Marinis squaring off against Evy Gobbens of Plattsburgh High School.
