TICONDEROGA - The Saranac Lake golf team locked up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference regular season championship Thursday with a 6-0 victory over Ticonderoga.
The Red Storm improved their record to 9-0 with one CVAC match remaining on the schedule before the Section VII tournament that starts next Thursday in Westport. It was the second year in a row Saranac Lake has won the CVAC title.
Saranac Lake senior Kyle Dora was the medalist against Ticonderoga after shooting a 37 in the No. 2 position. Dustin Fischer and Devin Darrah each shot 40, while Ethan Sawyer and Blake Gregory had matching 41s. Matt Clark was the other scorer for Saranac Lake with his 43 in the No. 5 position.

Lake Placid 5, AuSable Valley 1
LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid golf team rounded out its regular season schedule Thursday with a 5-1 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory over AuSable Valley at Craig Wood Golf Course.
The Blue Bombers finished 6-4 and will travel to Westport for the two-day Section VII championships next Thursday.
Defending Section VII individual champion John Hickey was the lone winner for AuSable Valley after shooting a 1-under-par 34 for the low score of the day.
Dustin Jacques carded the best score for the Blue Bombers with a 42, followed by Nick Reid (46), Pat Kane (47), Kiefer Casler (47) and Lucas Strack (48).
Lake Placid's Miles Lussi shot a 42 in the No. 1 position playing against Hickey.
Tupper Lake 4, Brushton-Moira 1
TUPPER LAKE - The Tupper Lake golf team won in the bottom four positions on the way to a 4-1 victory over Brushton-Moira on Thursday at Tupper Lake Country Club.
Brushton-Moira's Devin Delisle was the low scorer in the match with a 39 from the No. 1 position. He beat Riley Amell who shot a 52.
Robbie LaLonde (50), Rick LaLonde (45), Ben Geiger (47) and Colton Clark (60) each picked up victories for the Lumberjacks.
AuSable Valley 3, Lake Placid 2
LAKE PLACID - The AuSable Valley baseball team scored all its runs in the first three innings then held on to beat Lake Placid 3-2 in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game Thursday at the North Elba Show Grounds.
After the Patriots scored two in the top of the first inning, the Blue Bombers responded with single runs in the first and second to tie the game at 2-2. AuSable Valley pushed across the winning run in the top of the third.
R.J. Reid went 2-for-3 with a double to pace the Blue Bombers offensively. Reid also chipped in with the pitching duties, shutting out AuSable Valley over the final two innings.
Lake Placid starting pitcher Ryan Meyer took the loss after throwing the first five innings.
Cody Simpson went the distance on the mound for the Patriots, giving up six hits. He helped his own cause at the plate with three hits.
AuSable Valley outhit the Blue Bombers 8-6.
Lake Placid (3-12) has two more games remaining on the regular season schedule: Saturday at Northern Adirondack and Tuesday at Moriah.
Saranac 4, Saranac Lake 3
PICKETTS?CORNERS - The Saranac Lake baseball team suffered another final inning setback Thursday when Saranac Central scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 4-3 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory.
It was the fifth time this season the Red Storm (4-8) have lost in the last inning.
"I feel badly for the boys as they have battled and kept with every team in the league," said Saranac Lake coach Bill Wilson. "We'll continue to fight and keep our chins up as we head into the playoffs next week."
Saranac Lake scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Red Storm maintained that lead going into the bottom of the seventh. Saranac loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh and Kyle Erickson delivered the game-winning, two-run single to secure the victory.
The win extended the Chiefs' winning streak to 10 games. It was third game in a row Saranac has won by one run.
Saranac Lake pitcher Grant Strack went the distance, striking out seven and allowing five walks and six hits. The junior also shined at the plate with a single and a double.
Dylan Gunther added two singles for the Red Storm.
Kasey Favreau recorded the win on the mound after striking out six and walking one over seven innings of five-hit ball.
AuSable Valley 8, Lake Placid 7
CLINTONVILLE - The AuSable Valley softball team scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete a comeback and notch an 8-7 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lake Placid on Thursday.
The Blue Bombers built a 7-3 lead with five runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and sixth. AuSable Valley responded with four runs in the sixth and the game-winner in the seventh.
Christine Darrah connected for the game-winning RBI with a single.
AuSable Valley outhit, the Blue Bombers 14-3 in the game.
Ogdensburg 7, Saranac Lake 5
OGDENSBURG - The Saranac Lake boys lacrosse team scored three goals in the third quarter but was unable to overtake the lead in a 7-5 loss to Ogdensburg on Thursday.
Jeff Stevens and Seth Pickreign each had two goals for the Red Storm, who concluded their regular season schedule with a 2-11 overall record.
Lance Ackerson scored a goal and Jesse Ettinger had an assist for the Red Storm. Mike Burpoe and Jacob Merrill combined for 13 saves in goal for Saranac Lake.
Trey Lawrence had two goals and two assists to lead the way for Ogdensburg (5-11).
Northeastern Clinton 3, Lake Placid 2
Northeastern Clinton 4, Lake Placid 1
LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid boys and girls tennis teams both went down to defeat at home Thursday against Northeastern Clinton.
The Blue Bombers boys fell by a 3-2 score while the girls dropped a 4-1 decision to the Cougars.
In the boys match, Keegan Barney and the doubles team of David Knapic and Steven Jelinek earned wins for Lake Placid, which fell to 0-5 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play. Barney won at third singles, topping Devin McManus 6-1, 6-1, and Knapic and Jelinek earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Troy Tetreault and Brendan Boutin in No. 2 doubles.
In first singles, Ryan Marks of NCCS topped Nick Stosiek 6-2, 6-3 and in second singles, Jordan Brilotti outlasted Lake Placid's Alex Jelinek to win 7-6 (8-6) and 6-3. Adam Khater and McKenna Hunter grabbed the third Cougars win, topping Joel Sliver and Justin Stosiek 6-0, 6-2 in the top doubles match.
Joan O'Leary survived a three-set battle in No. 2 singles to pick up the lone win for Lake Placid in the girls match. In three sets, the Blue Bombers junior claimed a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 win over Katelynn King of NCCS.
In the other contests: Paige Southwick topped Lake Placid senior Natalia Smith 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles; Jenna LaValley defeated Victoria O'Leary 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in No. 3 singles; Erica Sorrell and Lacie Hogle topped Cameron Brooks and Brenna Garret 6-2, 6-2 in the top doubles match; and Sarena Foster and Abbie Miller blanked Lake Placid's Kayla Hudson and Grace McGrew 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles.
