William G. Bruce Jr.

LAKE PLACID - William G. Bruce Jr., 77, of Edgley Way, Lake Placid, passed away March 17, 2012, at Uihlein Living Center where he had been a resident since December 2010.

He was born in New Rochelle on March 18, 1934, the son of William G. Bruce and Helen (Peter) Bruce. He was a graduate of St. Lawrence University.

William met Siv Elizabeth Ronnqvist in London, England, where they were married. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked in Virginia Beach, Va., and New Jersey as a manufacturers agent, selling manufactured goods. Bill and Elizabeth lived in New Jersey for over 20 years prior to moving to Virginia Beach, Va., 12 years ago. They purchased a home in Lake Placid, where they enjoyed summers and vacations before making Lake Placid their home. He attended the Lutheran Church of Holy Trinity in Saranac Lake.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bruce of Lake Placid; one son, Kendall Bruce of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Pamela Marsh and her husband Carl of Stanford, Conn.; sister-in-law Marilyn, wife of the late David Bruce, of southern California. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Wesley, Carl, Ava and Zoe Marsh.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Pastor Michael Richards will officiate. Cremation will follow. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid. The family suggests friends wishing to remember Bill send donations in Bill's memory to the Lutheran Church of Holy Trinity in Saranac Lake. The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
