SARANAC LAKE - Carol Lee VanWeort, 48, of 58 Academy St., Malone, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

Born in Saranac Lake on May 22, 1963, she was the daughter of Joseph and Dora (Gates) Bova Sr.

Carol graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1982. She later attended and graduated from North Country Community College. Prior to retiring due to her health, she had worked as a nurses aid at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid and had also worked as a teacher's assistant at Saranac Lake Middle School. Carol was active in sports in high school and she loved the outdoors, especially camping.

She is survived by two children: John Bova of Moira and David Bova of Vermontville; her father and mother: Joseph Bova Sr. of Lake Placid and Dora Bova of Malone; her twin sister Christine and husband Gerald Swinyer of Vermontville; four brothers: Bradley Bova of Orlando, Fla., Timothy Bova and his wife Sue of Malone, Joseph Bova Jr. and his wife Tammy of Saranac Lake and Wayne Bova and his wife Kelly of Malone; her husband Terry VanWeort of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
