LAKE PLACID - Joseph C. Desourdy, 73, of Keeseville, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.
He was born March 24, 1938 in Lake Placid, the son of Irvin and Alice (Pelkey) Desourdy. He was raised in Lake Placid and attended Lake Placid High School. He had worked as a caretaker at the Lake Placid Club and at the Holiday Inn in Lake Placid.
Joe was a long-time member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department and the Jay Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing horseshoes. He also loved playing pool, bowling and fishing.
Joe is survived by his wife, Theresa A. (Pulsifer) Desourdy of Hinesburg, Vt.; two sons: Joseph C. Desourdy Jr. and his wife Carmen of Plattsburgh, and Jim Desourdy and his wife Becky of Thurman; two daughters: Nichole Corthell and her husband Scott of Plattsburgh, and Mystery Linares-Desourdy of Florida; and one brother, Kenneth Desourdy and his wife Lynda of Lake Placid. He is also survived by close friend and caregiver Ruth Sprague and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Desourdy was predeceased by three brothers: Harold Desourdy, Donald Desourdy and Robert Desourdy; and three sisters: Dorothy Desourdy, Marion Loadwick and Nora Gonyea.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home Inc. in Lake Placid with a fireman's prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16 at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery.
