LAKE PLACID - Albert G. Scavo, 66, of Greenwood St., Lake Placid, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, from injuries received from an automobile-pedestrian accident.
He was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 3, 1945, the son of Frank C. and Jemma (Fertino) Scavo.
Mr. Scavo had worked in advertising for Albert Frank Co. in Manhattan. He moved to Lake Placid and made several friends on his daily walks around the town. He made it a habit to stop and visit at several stores along his walking route, and he visited the Lake Placid Public Library daily. Mr. Scavo loved collecting old books and antiques, and he attended daily Mass at St. Agnes Church since he moved to Lake Placid more than four years ago.
He is survived by one brother, Louis Scavo and his wife Susan of Jay; one sister, Annie Scavo and her husband Robert Farkas of Jay; nephew Michael Scavo and his wife Kim and their children Dylan and Justin; niece Ellen Ram and her husband Michael and their children Alex and Laci.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the M.B. Clark Inc. funeral home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. Cremation will follow.
