LONG LAKE - Dennis P. Hunt, 82, of Long Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born Aug. 21, 1929 in Hartwell, Ga., he was the son of Thomas and Ellie (Patterson) Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Machinery Mechanic at National Lead in Tahawus retiring in 1989. Active in his Long Lake community, he was a member of St. Henry's Church, he participated in bible studies. For several years, he was a Boy Scout troop leader. Mr. Hunt enjoyed woodworking and had many hobbies including, vegetable and flower gardening, and hunting, but most of all, his passion was his time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice (Peck) Hunt; one brother, Marion Thomas Hunt; 13 children: Donald (Melissa) Hunt Sr., Jennifer (Charles) Sabattis, Rebecca LaBlanc, Mary (Steve) Foote, Catherine Hunt, Susan (Tim) Gano, David (Sheryl) Hunt, James (Laura) Hunt, Dennis (Vicki) Hunt Jr., Jan E. Hunt, Therese Hunt, Thomas Hunt II, Jacinta (Scott) Bickford; 33 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at St. Henry's parish center in Long Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10 in St. Henry's church. Burial will follow in the Long Lake cemetery.
