TUPPER LAKE - Loretta Berard, 85, of Tupper Lake, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Born Jan. 29, 1927, in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Napoleon and Edna (Beor) LaMere. On May 24, 1949, she married Raymond Berard. Loretta was a wonderful wife and mother who devotedly raised 11 children. After retirement, she enjoyed reading, playing cards and trips to the casino with her family.
She is survived by her husband Ray of 62 years; her 11 children: Janice (Dean) McLear, Pam (Jack) Ploski, Trish (Andy) Gagne, Rick (Judy) Berard and Jeannie (Gary) Fellows, all of Connecticut; Deb (Chuck) Benware, Donna (Dale) Parks, and Carol (Bryan) Baldwin, all of Tupper Lake; Rene (Joy) Berard of Potters Corners; Mary (Bob) Haack of Selkirk; Cindy (Dave) Frechette of Florida; her 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her four sisters: Geneva Ziolkowski, Mae (Homer) LaMare, Lil Charland, Pauline Boni and sister-in-law Pat LaMere.
She was predeceased by her brother Louie LaMere.
Calling hours for Loretta will be held from 4 to 7 p.m today at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the St. Alphonsus Church.
