OGDENSBURG - Francis S. Exware, 65, of county Route 10, Ogdensburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center after being stricken at home.

Fran was born on June 12, 1946 in Tupper Lake, a son of David and Hazel (St. Pierre) Exware. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1964. His working career began at the Westfield Paper Company in Westfield, Mass. in 1972 where he worked until they closed in 1996. He then became employed at the Hazen Paper Company until his retirement in 2005.

He married Judith (LaPoint) Darcy on Aug. 29, 1998 in Russell, Mass. with the Rev. Jim Tilby officiating the couple's marriage. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers, outdoor activities, carpentry work and spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife Judith; a son, Steven Exware of Russell, Mass.; two step-sons: James Darcy Jr. of Flackville and Patrick Darcy of Ogdensburg; daughters: Laura Perrier and her husband Jeremy of Westfield, Mass. and Sherrie Dupelle and her husband Richard of Westfield, Mass.; four brothers and their wives: Harold and Donna Exware of Parishville, Ronald and Beverly Exware of North Carolina, Donald and Irene Exware of Westfield, Mass. and Frederick Exware and his companion Jane Pickering of Tupper Lake; seven sisters and their husbands: Patricia and Frederick Wellspeak of Chester, Mass., Mary Jane and Michael Colvin of Tulley, Cecile and Jack LaVoie of Fabious, Brenda Hoffman, Janet Baker, Alice and Babe LaFlam and Rita Carrow, all of Tupper Lake; eight grandchildren: Eric, Amber and Joshua Perrier, Nickolas, Benjamin, Casey and Amanda Dupelle and James Darcy III; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predecased by his first wife, Cynthia LaPoint; three brothers: Roger, Herman and Eugene; and a sister, Thelma Santerre.

Calling hours will be held from 3 p.m. today until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Daby will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Russell, Mass.
