Peter Frenette of Saranac Lake was the top American jumper Sunday in the Continental Cup event in Sapporo, Japan.

Frenette placed 25th on Sunday after placing 26th in events on Friday and Saturday. Norwegian Andreas St. Jernen was the top jumper on Sunday and leads the overall Continental Cup points standings.

"Peter was able to score points in all three events here in Japan," U.S. head coach Clint Jones said. "Overall, his jumping has been pretty good, but he has room for improvement, which is always a good thing. He does seem to be getting into a good competition groove."

Anders Johnson was the next-best American with a 51st-place finish. Nick Fairall of New Hampshire was 55th.

Frenette and Johnson will stay in Sapporo to train this week in preparation for next weekend's FIS World Cup.
